The Sports Exchange

The inside track for those who need to know

Now that this has been taken to a new stage with the heartfelt squeals from the Exchange Shop bretheren I wondered if anyone wants to discuss it openly & honestly. There is no chance on the Kindergartern Forum as there are too many vested egos.

I would be very interested.
Although the subject ahs been done to death on the once grate forum I will try and provide a brief history of what the 1 nd only Warwick Hunt christened the "SIS raw feed".

Up until late summer of 2,005 nobody knows how many punters had been betting in running with pictures that were as close to live as terrestial weekend coverage. They sat in their living rooms betting against viewers of the original ATR with a 2-3 sec advantage. They did this by using big 1.5 M or so satellite dishes to intercept the raw feeds sent up by SIS outside broadcast unit trucks. You also had the added drama of watching the likes of Luke Harvey, Sir Bob and the rest of em picking their noses off air between races! For the very first pioneers it must have been a licence to print money.

Then suddenly in late summer 2,005 a number of freds started appearing on the BF Forum from manic punters asking where Golden Goose TV had gone to. The feeds were still there and for 20 mins a day they could happily watch as the presenters and their engineers setup for the day but then bang a blank screen. SIS had begun to encrypt the feeds.

Slowly but surely every meeting was being blacked out. Quickly the fast pics community worked out what had happened and got it down to the fact that SIS were using a BISS alpha numeric code. The Holy Grail then became a compliant party to provide these codes and a legend was born.

Now there are those who know a lot more than me about this whole subject and hopefully we can get them on here to add to our knowledge. I reckon that within a year we will have instantaneous feeds from the racecourses so all this will be academic anyway, but it would be interesting if some of those who were in from the start told us their stories. To my mind much more interesting than reading about Patrick Veitch and his Ferrari!
I dont have the raw feed myself, but i do know the owner of an exchange office, and the feeds currently that they all get are few and very far between.
Its mainly still there for Irish meetings covered on sundays which are screened on RTE, however the Ascot feed appears to have gone.

The problems encountering SIS users these days appears to be the time lag between the pictures provided and the track, which is too much. This has opened the way for track players to cream it as they have got more sophisticated, with the technology.

Other problems include certain tracks which let out rooms for people to use on a first come first serve basis to watch and use the live racetech images etc, whether racing is on or not, and hotels who use the feeds such as at Wolverhampton, where its owned by the track who feed the live pictures into the rooms which are generally fully occupied during the daytime with laptop users.

I am certain some Betfair users have the pictures, codes paid for, but i am also aware that certain members of the media who frequent RUK etc, maybe not the big names, actually years ago used to sit infront of the pictures being streamed out of the van. That was mentioned to me by one of the commentators.

I am informed by my mate who runs the office when they have pictures, i could maybe post on here as and when informed if it is useful for anyone.
By all means.
I wonder why we have the continuing baiting of SIS on the BF Forum saying the codes are being sold? Two names that seem to crop up again and again are Machin & Curry. I wonder if Ladbrokes, Billys et al, have access to the raw pictures?

All very interseting anyway. Strange thing is the Gambling Commission instead of investigating the public playing with a tilted wheel, chose to licence exchange offices. These civil servants do luv their lolly. We need The Magician over here soon as he is a top man on the politics of all this. Mr Magician come over please.
