Brazil and Ghana Book Their Tickets To South Africa

Brazil and Ghana were the latest teams to qualify for the World Cup taking the total number of qualified teams to eight. Ghana make it back to back World Cups after first qualifying in 2006. Brazil of course have never missed a World Cup. Wednesday night is the second part of this week’s qualifying and more teams should qualify on Wednesday night.

Denmark will basically confirm their spot if they defeat Albania. Denmark are at 1.64 for the win with the draw paying 4. Portugal are in huge trouble of missing out and have a massive away game to Hungary. The visitors are at 1.61 with the Hungarians at a distant 6.8.

Undefeated England host Croatia and a win will see them through to the World Cup. A draw would just about be good enough. They’ve had a great qualifying campaign which is why they can coast in the final three matches. It’s a completely different feeling from their campaign for Euro 2008 where they went from one mishap to another. England is favoured with the bookmakers paying 1.61 for the win while the draw is at 3.9.

In Group 9, Scotland need a point against Netherlands to finish second in the group. Luckily for the Scots this match is at home. In soccer betting, Scotland is paying 3.6 for the win, the draw is at 3.55 and a Dutch win is at 2.26.

In CONCACAF, Mexico have rebounded from their early troubles to be in the top three. Even though Costa Rica sit in fourth, they will still have a playoff against the fifth South American side if they stay in fourth.

At this stage that playoff opponent woulud be Colombia but it could be anyone, even Argentina. Argentina had to defeat Australia in 1993 in order to make it to the 1994 World Cup. They face a tricky away trip to Paraguay in their next match. There is still some faith in the Argentines with them paying 2.38 to the 3.3 Paraguay.

The Bahrain / Saudi Arabia playoff finished a 0-0 draw after the first gamein Riffa. How much of an impact will away goals play in the next leg in Riyadh? The winner of this will play New Zealand. The Saudis are considered the favourites by those in the know of soccer betting. The Saudis are at 1.63 while Bahrain is at a long 6.8.

This will set the stage for two great nights in October.

David Wiseman is looking forward to the 2010 World Cup. Besides this he looking forward to the windfall his Melbourne Cup betting should bring.
