Charity begins at home

There's no doubt the racing industry considers it badly let down by the government's floundering funding efforts - bodging the treatment of off-shore bookies and exchanges, and now seeking to sell the Tote, an important part of racing's current funding.

So its good to hear that the BHA is pledged to support an effort to set up the Tote as a charitable foundation. Rather than a sale to the self-same industry structures of exchanges, off-shore bookies and the like.
