Exciting changes are planned for The Sports Exchange as we near our 2nd anniversary. The founders, me and J2O (the soft drink gambler of great renown previously known as J2E) have been much occupied with our other ventures: J2O on his sports cafe in Pangbourne "The Ditty"; and me on a stem cells pharmaceutical development programme.
Neither lend…

More stirrings from the Thames riverbank.
Your correspondent sampled Boeuf Bourguignon at the DITTY Sports Cafe in Pangbourne today, a dish that brought the sight and smell of true French cuisine to this smart commuter-belt fleshpot.
John Tuohy's new boutique gastropod rightly basked in long-awaited March sunshine as his top chef, Mo, finessed his personal take on this classic French peasant dish from Burgundy - warming up ahead of the Ditty's French evening later…

See some serious reaction to the sex discrimination row on the box last night. Heather Rabbatts weighed in with effect and authority, she must have seen it all in and around her time at Millwall - bet they dont stand any nonsense!
'Sexist dinosaurs' sounds about right - have you seen the Times' photo of the luckless pair?
Btw, my old friends at FootieChick, sports kit for the fairer sex (no discrimination there, m'lud) seem to have slimmed down their operation, big shame if so,…

Just seen a VERY convincing Andy Murray win his 3rd round at Melbourne 1, 1, and 2. Good news, he looked strong, fast, active and efficient, what a change!
But then, the ritualistic 'tossing of the extras' to the adulating tennis crowd: two sweaty wrist-bands, a headband, and there was something else... towel, maybe, or a furry comforter? Who knows - who cares - what next?
Oh, and a ball was skied into the stalls; spare seats, nearest spectator struggled to recover ball,…

Have a look at this seasonal sparkler from Betfair on their corporate site at: http://bit.ly/e2Ipoc
The boss, Mr Yu, predicts years of strong growth generated from: "... well-invested technology platform position the Group strongly for growth in the years to come, together with the potential for…

There's no doubt the racing industry considers it badly let down by the government's floundering funding efforts - bodging the treatment of off-shore bookies and exchanges, and now seeking to sell the Tote, an important part of racing's current funding.
So its good to hear that the BHA is pledged to support an effort to set up the Tote as a charitable foundation. Rather than a sale to the self-same industry structures of exchanges, off-shore bookies and the like.…

Well here it is again, the Great Seasonal Tote Chase, quite a large field of possible buyers, current estimates of likely sales value dropped a lot since the last 'fix', now stands at £250m (was £400m in 2008).
Contrast with the market cap of Betfair at and after its recent flotation - some pointers here for Sports_Punter maybe, who has been seeking to rationalise the unrationalisable, see his learned efforts at…

Now we know. Our fearless
journalistas and courageous members of the commentariat were right on the button with their selfless revelations of murky dealings in the seamier backrooms of the
world's footie rulers.
Has the World Cup voting system overtaken that other global sporti-politico challenge, The European Song Contest? 'Nul points' strikes again and our luckless champions sit there in the grand hall and have to take…

Dont know if you guys are
Twitterers but well worth keeping an eye (ear?) open for
Sports Punter. And I know how everyone loves a
Betfair story. There are 9 solid pages of posts on this site, must be ~200 fuming, seething, festering blog posts - see them simply by putting 'Betfair' into the
Search engine on the front…

Off to the nags at Newbury today, provided the frost hasnt got into the ground.
Meeting up with Stephen Little, legendary rails bookie (ret'd) who will be burning up the course with his own brand of personal trading. That should keep us all warm in the reflected success.
Any bright ideas from the racing cognoscenti of the Sports Exchange? Sure winners preferred, dead certs an alternative, virtual prizes will be awarded for successful tips, how can you resist?
May go…

Stephen Fry described his visit to
Millwall FC on Tuesday evening as "on a dangerous adventure" when tweeting to his adoring followers. My Man in the (directors') Box, Craig, reports a pleasant encounter with the Norwich City board member during a low-key draw which passed off without anything dangerous on or in The New Den.
The Lions v The Canaries, sounds a dangerous mis-match to me [no…

PoliticsHome have run a survey today asking for
votes on who will be the the next leader of each of the 3 main political parties. A dozen names offered for each, I suppose I recognise 70% and know a little about 20% of the names.
Unusually, all 3
current incumbents look set fair to remain leader of their respective party beyond the next election. They seem ok in terms…

You can scarcely move on the riverbank these days for betting folk. Not so much Mole, Rat and Badger gathering around Toad Hall fending off the Stoats and Ferrets; more the local patriarch, 'Onest John 2E, your friendly local bookie, and his cohort of slick, young(ish) sales and marketing experts.…

I was going to start further observations on the
Amazing Incident of the Reluctant Footballer. However, as
Wazza and Fergie have reached an accommodation, and are Best Mates again, I will save myself the trouble of writing it, and you, dear Reader, the trouble of reading it.
Well that's all right then. Potential energy preserved, no trees felled, rain forests preserved, just nice time for me to snuck into the butler's pantry for a quick sharpener. We dont yet…

The powerful search facility we employ here at The Sports Exchange has an astonishing 9 pages of links to BETFAIR, the exchange the punters love to hate. There has been a tradition of betfair-bashing amongst the membership here, cant understand why.
Maybe someone can blog in and tell us?

Please can someone explain to me what a bunch of Texas lawyers in ostrich-skin boots have to do with the High Court of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
This unwelcome and extra-jurisdictional intervention is damagingly frustrating the outcome of a commercial deal in the UK, entirely active within the UK and with agreements written in the UK under the… Continue
