Now for something completey different.......Celebrity Big Brother: Initial Thoughts

They may not be everyone's cup of tea but reality tv shows offer good positions nonetheless.

The 2010 series of Celebrity Big Brother kicks off on the 3rd January and we though we'd take a look at the betting to see if we can unearth some early value. With the contestants not being finalised Betfair are without a market, so we'll have to rely on the FO markets.

What are we looking for? Well a contestant that isn't a bullshitter/name-dropper, someone unlikely to rub the public up the wrong way, someone who is 'real'. Ulrika proved last year that the public like a 'real' person despite their personal history. You also have to understand who votes for these programmes - young women.

So we've unearthed two bets, both at decent prices. Firstly, BROOKE KINSELLA's story is a tragic one and the memory of her brother's murder will resonate loudly throughout her time in the CBB house. Voters will have sympathy and that should translate in her going deep into the show. She's also a 'real' person and judging by what we've seen a nice young lady to boot. In all she rates a good bet and should definitely get us a trading position at the current 12-1 best price. Eastender fans will be watchers of CBB and this should have a big impact.

The other person we think may be over-priced is HEIDI FLEISS. She has an uber-colourful past and will have some stories to tell in the CBB house - which should capture the public's imagination. Her life experiences will have made her a person who is not going into the house to play the part and the British public love a 'madam' - if you know what I mean. We think she may have the personality to make the rest look one dimensional and likely to prove one of the stronger characters in the show in the opening week. Available at 20-1 she rates a bet, with the view to being able to lay off at a later date.

Suggested Bets:
£30 win Brooke Kinsella @ 12-1 Paddy Power
£20 win Heidi Fleiss @ 20-1 Paddy Power

How's BB getting on then? I was a bit rude about Big Brother in Richard's blogpost the other day, didnt mean to put people off their reality show pleasures, far from it.

Please update me, I darent watch it, I might get addicted/catch something.

Just for the record... I am totally untainted by ANY connection to Flash Gordon, his expense claims, his sycophants, quangos or self-serving mandarins. The handle "Adonis" is a simpler, but more tenuous origin than either His Lordship or even Greek mythology.
Come the Revolution, others should be lined up against the wall well before me!
There again, if Big Brother continues his tricks, there may be no Election, or even Revolution. We may all end up in Room 101.
A Happy New Year thought that, 'eh?
In the meantime, will THIS be the year that the Gambling Commission forces betting exchanges to insert delays on the cancellation of offers submitted as well as their acceptance into the matching queue in the first place?
Unless and until this is done, spoofing will continue to the costy of ALL Customers.

Ah, wise words for the new decade, Adonis, ever watchful, leaping on to the rash or hasty post. Back to your Transport ministry this instant!
And a Happy New Year to him.

Going to the Zoo can be an enjoyable experience too, but it's somewhat tainted if you start comparing the average intelligence of the inmates with yourself.
Well, at least until you get to that place with the Chimps drinking Brooke Bond....
Happy New Year all!

How can you seriously suggest that any rational thinking could get anywhere near the correct answer for this brainless, sub-moronic, demeaning and totally worthless load of rubbish?
That said, it attracts the mass of the population - I rest my case, m'lud - and you might catch the Nation's fancy. I've never heard of any of them, maybe that's a definition of 'celebrity' in 2010?

[That's quite enough realty stuff, we're virtual, remember - Ed]
