Watched the race, and the video afterwards, many times. AP was niggling Denman most of the time, and said so afterwards. Just not his day, I'd say. The good news is that it was AP riding, so no-one, with half a brain, can say it was the jockey rather than the horse. (AP is, IMHO, by far the best NH Jockey of all Time - an "Arkle" compared to his peers).
The worry for those locked-in ante post is that Denman's getting "cute" with age - not unusual with horses that have got away with bullying their peers on the gallops and the course.
It all makes for an interesting race at Cheltenham, though I suspect that AP might want some serious convincing, on the Nicholls gallops, before that?

Shame about this, Adonis, red noses not red roses for you then.

Suppose it meant you couldnt get to Newbury to report at first hand on the debacle of AP and Denman. What can have happened, could this throw the Festival race-off into any doubt?

At the Pheasant tomorrow, will definitely get the inside track from the assorted sages, soaks and cynics usually to be found at this near-Lambourn racing hostelry; I will bring you all the gossip.

What's worse than "man 'flu"?
Getting a cold/cough from the missus a few days after she sucumbed - and has a direct line on the "form" of just how miserable it was!
Scary, because "she who must be obeyed" was REALLY poorly for several days.....let's hope she's feeling charitable, else I'm gonna have to part-exchange her for a new model! One of those sporty lightweirght jobs with few miles on the clock....... dangerous talk!
