January 2010 Blog Posts (9)

Tweet, tweet

In response to overwhelming public demand [that's quite enough self promotion from you -Ed] selected blogs and comments will be aired on Twitter under my label of @gmciw

You can also go direct to Richard Stoddart's northern mutterings at @betcatalyst - straight from the horse's mouth.

If you choose to follow me anyway, you can also see Guido Fawkes, the leading political anarchist on the web, occasional refs to Caro Wozniacki, the Tasty Danish Pastry, aka The… Continue

Tennis in Oz = Tennis Trading = John 2E refulgent

Good coverage on one of Sports Punter's favoured sites, at http://mylessoncost70k.blogspot.com/ with stroke by stroke comments, really good stuff. Last time I saw the site there were some good action piccies [that's enough titillation, thank you very much -Ed], must search the archive.

There was a brilliant definitive paper on Tennis Trading, published here by John 2E last summer (find it on The Sports Exchange… Continue

Most Inefficient Online Newspaper Award

The Racing Post:

Try loading up a "performance monotor" - in Vista and Windows 7 you can put it on your sidebar...

Now bring up some (or even all) of your favourite online newspapers and see them slowly encroach into your RAM and CPU resources.

But now, bring up the Racing Post online.

Shock, Horror!!!!!

Even on it's own it positively EATS resources!

Why?

Because it's been compiled with the Racing Posts agenda in mind,… Continue

Offensive adverts - sorry

The ads on the site are out of my control but have generally been harmless and vaguely relevant to the content of each page.

Recently, though, there has been a really grotty set of pictures of yellowing molars and the rest, offensive and irrelevant. I complained and received the following reply:

"The image ads we run alongside the text-based ads you're used to seeing are a recent change we've implemented to ensure that we can offer Ning Networks free of charge.… Continue

where is Footballmad?

I have noticed that Footballmad has drawn in his/her horns on Matchbet, not surprising, miserable performance,
my benefit was to learn a lot about Matchbet, I now do almost all my betting there, mostly 'custom' betting, where I can use my statistical database on Premiership matches (better than footballmad, though thats not saying much)

Snobs or Philistines, witterings on a snowy afternoon

I may have sounded a bit non-PC - or even undemocratic - in my tetchy comments about Big Brother and Darts. Sportsmen, of course, who bet on these activities are only interested in the wager, the 'sport' itself is irrelevant. Greyhound racing may be in the same mould (Ebony, the Internet greyhound, my beloved 4-legged companion for 12 years) where the sport is probably followed by darts and BB afficionados. So, apologies if I have struck the wrong note.

But Simon… Continue

Indoor Sports Rule OK

How's the DARTS doing? My old friends BDO (sponsors, I think) have failed to invite me, so I cant be the right sort of darts demographic. But they know I'm the outdoor sort of chap, I was invited to golf days (free umbrellas) and cricket matches (8 hours booze, if you could withstand the attentions of the local bankers).

SNOW seems to have cooled the ardour of even our most persistent bloggers, quietest patch on The Sports Exchange that I can recall. But you can always turn to our… Continue
