The inside track for those who need to know

Anyone any fancies for today's horse racing? Reckon there's plenty of value to be had today, especially with some bookies offering 1/4 odds first five in both Gold and Silver Cups at Ayr.

Here's my three fancies for today (which judging by my record on here are ones to avoid like the plague!).

SIGNOR PELTRO must have a huge chance in the Ayr Gold Cup (3.10) despite being available at 20-1 in places. Everyone and his dog knows that for some reason horses who are 7f performers at heart do really well in this race and certainly Signor Peltro brings as good as form as any horse does judged on his latest second behind Marching Time of Sir Michael Stoute's at Goodwood. On that occasion Signor Peltro was giving a stone to that rival and was only beaten 1+1/4L, which is more amazing given that Marching Time looks destined to be a lot better than a handicapper. The booking of Seb Sanders catches the eye and he has a canny enough draw in stall 8. In all he is vastly overpriced and one can see him coming late and fast to take this.

Richard Fahey has had a canny Western Meeting and it is set to continue with KALDOUN KINGDOM. This underachiever has always looked the type to take a decent handicap but has always just found one or two too good. Good thing now is that he's on an exploitable mark with McHugh's 5lb claim off and if he's ever going to win a big handicap today has to be his day. He has a good draw to exploit and a canny racing weight against horses who by and large aren't setting the world alight.

Over at Newbury I like the 16-1 about ALMIQAAD (2.50). Michael Jarvis has had a few winners recently and although initial reading of his form figures don't look promising a further inspection gives a different story. His last run of last seaon saw him finish a creditable fifth in the Royal Lodge at Ascot behind Jukebox Jury beaten 6L. That horse has went on to win a Group 2 this season, but more importantly in that race Almiqaad lost a shoe and alhough he wouldn't have won he would have been alot closer to the winner. Almiqaad races of a mark of 93 and a strict reading of the 6L beating would put Jukebox Jury in here off 99 and probable odds-on favourite. His first run this season saw him finish a well-beaten 5th, but that run came on good-to-soft ground near 300+ days after his last run at two. That run is best forgiven and more emphasis should be placed on his run last time (second run of the season) when he couldn't get any room to mount a challenge inside the last two furlongs and ended up finishing behind Fanjura and Antinori (who he faces today). He's been dropped 3lb for that and is now 7lb better off with Antinori. Taking this all into account it looks like Jarvis has a horse who should now be at peak fitness after two runs, who has some smart form and who looks to have been totally overlooked. The 16-1 is a monster price and worth a bet.

My bets for today::

Everyone's concentrating on the footie, Richard - following the Matchbet Tipster and his second weekend of outstanding results!

Now, if you were to start a regular Racing Tip on the Sports Exchange and we publish your record (pretty impressive based on your outcomes today) then we'd soon get some action.
