St Nicholas Abbey

If one thing can be learned from the horseracing history books, it is that Racing Post Trophy winners, if truly top class, DON'T win the following year's 2,000 Guineas. They win the Dante and/or Derby! Sometimes!

Yet every year, we are inundated with commentary that "this time we are sure, this time it WILL win".

Right.....

FWIW,…

POLITICAL BETTING TONIGHT

The third debate of the current series in the Modern Political Era is televised at 8pm tonight.

Matchbet is running political betting tonight and through to the 'real' contest next Thursday. And then, in tandem with hugely experienced political commentators and betting pundits, will run a portfolio of propositions to attract the experienced trader and sports punter.

These will be run through the unique Matchbet Betting Exchange, allowing you to dial up your own… Continue

Betting on the Election = Bigots to right and to left

Bigot: what a brilliant word to burst on the general election scene!

Ignoring the sensitivities of the poor woman so described, who would possibly use such a word without clear, unambiguous intent. It's an old word (16thC French) and not one, I imagine, that any of us have ever used or thought of using.

The Great Gordo demonstrates once again his other worldly arrogance and…

Virtual reality strikes again - Round 2 of the Premiership Debate

Let the Internet take the strain. Shut down Big Government, open up social networks for locally-connected services and 'government' (small'g').

Have a look at Dicks Politics at www.dickspolitics.com for some gentle pointers here.

Its not change for change sake; it's change for all our sakes.

But watch the… Continue

Battle of the political pundits

BBC 2 at 1130 today - hurry, only 30 mins to go.

Andrew Neil entertains Guido Fawkes on Daily Politics this morning. Gave Vince Cable a right roasting yesterday, one hears.

How DARE they call it Democracy!

For me the single most important aspect of the whole "debate thing" is that Gordon (the Unelected) Brown has at last done something right, by yet another gaffe. Which, by the way, must surely have been OKayed by Mandleson (the Unelected) Meddler too!!!!

For us - NOT for himself and his cronies!

He has opened Pandora's Box in grasping at the "Debate final straw" in the hope of somehow, almost impossibly, getting elected.…

Big grey cloud of Toxic Material erupts from Manchester

So what do we make of the Great 'Debate', bring back the Westminster roist-about, say I.

Little heat, less light, no rows and shouting matches, dull to the point of

extinction, no chance for the 'audience' to fire the unexpected shot at

the posed, poised, polished contenders. Giving an unhealthy appearance

of being able to work together, these three grey-suited men pandered to

the public's reported desire for a hung parliament.

Sky…

Is Politics a 'Sport' - it takes betting anyway

Is POLITICS a SPORT - it's certainly a gamble and it's 'bettable'.

Politcs doesnt pass the 'slacks and a belt' test propounded on The Sports Exchange in earlier discussions [no proper sport can be played in such attire, darts and golf spring to mind]. But it is a lying, cheating, scrapping sort of contest, no morals, bent rules, professional fouls - just like our good old favourites footie, cricket, et al.

Bet now on our in-house betting exchange provided by the… Continue

It's Manichean dualism, stupid!

In the national interest (yawn, yawn) I have devoted my bloggable energies to the upcoming battle of the hustings. I am grateful to my blog-mate, KyrixLinx, for this briefing on the state of the parties (ie disarray).

Politics and economics, the two are inseparable, arent they? Well, not so sure: the economy is a basket case and yet the failed incumbent of

13 years is still in the race. The main…
