Blawgers, for Gawd's sake

Seems there's a gap in sporting activity just now, so seizing the moment, Your Correspondent from the wider world brings you Things You Need To Know ("TYNTK"):

No 1: Did you know that Twitter has launched a string for (US) lawyers under the name tweetLaw? A Blog is a Blawg... Well, so it is in No10, when MrBruun gets hold of it. What it is to be in a declining empire ruled by Scawts.

50 not out and running well

The Exchange (or whatever its called today) has reached 50 members and activity on our Google Analytics 'spy-in-the-cab' shows three times that in daily visits, signalling many potential new members. As well as long, lingering visits to popular blogs; and an unsatisfied hunger for some 'authoritative' discussion stuff on the lines of John 2E's brilliant exposition of Cricket Trading.

Offers to party from international betting sites, as well as the odd local one. So we're grabbing… Continue

The Sporting Exchange

Subtle shift of emphasis, we are now The Sporting Exchange.

So what, you might ask: well, we are a gentleman's club, unlike the Mother of all Disasters at Westminster (see J2E on Floating Duck Ponds elsewhere). Free exchange of opinions and ideas; no commercial benefit (well, look at the tips!); well-mannered Posts and polite exchanges on the Blog comments.

So there you are, bruvvers, you're now part of a democratic wave reacting to the antics and extravagances of our… Continue

What's spread betting got to do with the Euro Elections

Spread betting multi-millionaire Stuart Wheeler has bunged the UK Independence Party ("UKIP" you dunce) £100,000 for their election 'expenses' (tax free homes, moat cleaning and KitEKat for the voters); is this the way big gamblers see the world? Read all about it in the News of the World at:… Continue

Say thank you to the nice Barney Frank

Who he? you ask. Well, he's a Yank, hence the silly name. He is also the chairman of the House financial services committee. He is bringing in legislation to legalise internet gambling in the US and has cross-party support though the Vegas operators see it as a threat.

Barney (or is it Frank) who is a dead ringer of Geoffrey Howe at the 'savaged by a dead sheep' stage, has lost some local cred by asking, as chairman of the financial services committee, why 'subordinated debt' is called… Continue

Cricket Trading on the Test, and other fascinating insights

Have a read of the Forum Discussion on Cricket trading, just click on 'Forum' in the navigation bar above. Its a bumper delivery from that old bowler (you've guessed it) John 2E. Because the 1st Test looks like ending several days early, we have posted the whole article today.

A bit of housekeeping

HYPERLINKS: they dont set up automatically when writing a blog or discussion. You have to insert them manually using the little chain symbol in the toolbar at the top of this entry. Type or paste the link onto your page, highlight it, click the chain symbol, paste the link into the dialogue box that will have popped up, click OK, and hey presto.

And there you were thinking this was a gambling forum. I'll have to relaunch www.GetMyComputerWorking.co.uk which is resting at the… Continue

Our advertising policy

There are some faintly relevant ads down the right hand side of this page. These are provided by the Google Boys who peer into our activities and discussions and generate ads that they deem topical, appropriate, lawful and useful. There's one for PayDayBank that strikes a chord and marginally more use to me than its neighbour 'Brain Meditation Secrets' - you will see from my little 'avatar' picture, I am not of a transcendental Guru appearance. Ah well. Let us know what you think of Google's… Continue

Bank Holiday viral attack

Viral blogging has struck The Gambling Exchange with a disruptive host of new members who picked up the infection from the neighbouring site of The Gambler.

Many had been battering at our digital doors for days, my apologies, I had left the setting at 'private' - well, you would wouldnt you, dont want a lot of members tramping all over our nice tidy pages - and have now swung the lever to PUBLIC, so god knows what happens now.

This is a pilot site to leverage the… Continue

Sportsmen are great citizens

We all go through life meeting people, dropping old acquaintances, losing touch with the odd friend or family member, picking up with some of them, and occasionally finding a real buddy. In the sporting world, which I take to include players as well as spectators and active gamblers, this is all too true.

I was privileged today to chew over the swings and roundabouts of Life with that sportsman and great citizen The Gambler, John '2E' Tuohy, at his riverside retreat on the banks of… Continue
